Emma Watson, Bradley Cooper Praise Jennifer Lawrence for Slamming Gender Pay Gap

After Jennifer Lawrence penned an essay blasting the gender pay gap on Tuesday, several Hollywood A-listers have spoken out to stand behind her, taking to social media to voice their support.

Bradley Cooper, who Lawrence called out in the essay as one of her “American Hustle” male co-stars who “fought and succeeded in negotiating powerful deals for themselves,” voiced his support.

“One thing I could say is that’s interesting because if you think that you only deserve a certain amount and that’s not correct, it’s about changing that mindset and sticking up for yourself,” Cooper told E! News on Tuesday. “So that’s a great thing.”

Such actresses as Emma Watson, Elizabeth Banks and Jessica Chastain have cheered on Lawrence. Watson, who has been vocal about her feminism especially in giving a much-praised speech to the United Nations about gender equality, tweeted that she loves Lawrence, and also re-posted a quote from the essay, reading, “I’m over trying to find the ‘adorable’ way to state my opinion.” Mark Ruffalo, who has also been open about his feminism, tweeted the story.

In an honest essay, Lawrence wrote about how she felt after the Sony hacks revealed that she was making less than her male co-stars in “American Hustle.” “Jeremy Renner, Christian Bale and Bradley Cooper all fought and succeeded in negotiating powerful deals for themselves,” she wrote. “If anything, I’m sure they were commended for being fierce and tactical, while I was busy worrying about coming across as a brat and not getting my fair share.”
